If we had automobiles like this, wouldn't we adore them? But while we have a love affair with the automobile, we have a hate affair with our other vehicle, our bodies.

We pamper our cars, wash them every week, all the while frowning at ourselves in the mirror and depriving ourselves of fuel as punishment for last week's chocolate binge. My goal is to bring a small fraction of the love we bear for our cars, and the common sense we use caring for them, to the love and care of our bodies. I wrote a whole book about it.
