The wire desk
A distribution desk for announcements that have to land on real outlets.
ARC Newswire sells one thing: placement of a corporate announcement on a named set of news outlets, with a person reading the copy first and a list of live links afterward. Communications teams and investor-relations teams use it when an announcement needs to be somewhere other than the company's own blog.
What the desk actually does
- Reads the release for a news angle, a named source, and contact details before it moves.
- Files it to the outlets in the package you paid for, including Google News, AP News, the USA TODAY Network, and network-affiliate coverage where that package includes it.
- Returns the live URLs as a clipping report, so the placement can be checked rather than taken on faith.
- Publishes a permanent copy on your ARC newsroom, which is the record the clipping report points back to.
Who it is for
A VP of communications with a product launch, an IR lead with an earnings note, an agency filing on behalf of a client. ARC is priced per release, so a team that ships four announcements a year does not carry a retainer for the other eight months. If you want a free public listing and nothing more, this is the wrong desk.
What it will not do
ARC does not guarantee a journalist will write about you. It guarantees the distribution you bought, and it shows you where the release went. Coverage beyond that is the reporter's decision.
